Chanel’s highly-anticipated resort show—which has been under the direction of the house’s chief designer Karl Lagerfeld from its impetus until his recent passing—has always transported us far and wide. With shows taking over the Chao Phraya river in Bangkok, the streets of Cuba’s capital, Havana, and Dubai’s The Island, each presentation plants itself firmly within exotic locations, and its next one will prove no different. For the French fashion house’s 2021 show, artistic director Virginie Viard is bringing Chanel’s next resort presentation to the Italian island of Capri on May 7, 2020, to showcase the lightweight and comfortable designs often inspired by yachting, coastal resorts and spa towns on Europe’s Mediterranean coastline, an inspiration that’s rung true since the days of Gabrielle Chanel’s helming.
